Studio Notes · July 2026
Hello all,
It's been a long while since my last note. Seasons passed, significant life changes happened on my end, and I haven't had the mental space to do much writing here this year. Even though I stepped back, life doesn't stop, of course, with the good and the bad, — in fact, I'm writing this instead of doing my very overdue taxes! — and today I felt the pull to share some fun news.
As some of you know, since Spring 2024, I've been continuously working on the Devotion Series, which started as a daily studio ritual in my sketchbook, and moved from oil pastel drawings on paper to carved patterns on clay. Each piece is a unique pattern built on the same Anatolian motif — with variations in color and configuration. While some patterns look closely related at a glance, no two pieces are the same. (Here is a warm hello to Nos. 48, 52, 55, and 57 — other members of the kin who have found homes elsewhere.)
So it feels fitting to share that two more of these patterns are out in the world right now.

Devotions No. 63 is included in InLiquid's New Now IX, a showcase welcoming 43 artists newly admitted into the collective. I'm happy to be included!
The exhibit runs from July 17-August 29, InLiquid Gallery, 1400 N. American Street, Philadelphia.

Save the Date! I’ll be at the Closing Reception on Sunday, August 23, 12-2pm.
Devotions No. 62 is in Precious Protection, a group show at Da Vinci Art Alliance. I love the theme of this show — the human need for protection, and what makes the materials and rituals of protection feel precious. This is a provocative and intricate curation, done by Lisa Hendrickson and Lia Huntington, and I’m excited to see it myself.
I'll be there for the closing reception on August 23rd, 12–2pm. Philly friends, please come join me!
