The Devotion Series emerged from a daily studio ritual.

In April 2024, after a stretch away from the studio due to illness, I began making a hand-drawn version of the Devotion motif (a design found in Turkish rugs) in my sketchbook—whenever I was able to get to the studio, even if only briefly.

I considered this my “arrival ritual.”

It started out as a modest exercise and became my own act of devotion to the creative practice and my new studio space.

These drawings, energized by the power of the motif, have become a trusted anchor and even a collaborator in my creative process. And the exploration continues to evolve…
