The Devotion Series emerged from a daily studio ritual.
In April 2024, following a hiatus from studio time and making due to an illness, I started making a hand-drawn version of the Devotion motif from Turkish rugs in my sketchbook whenever I could go to my studio.
I considered this my “arrival ritual.”
It started out as a modest exercise, but my act of devotion to the creative practice and my new studio space.
These drawings, energized by the power of the motif, have become a trusted anchor and even a steadfast collaborator in my creative process. And the exploration continues to evolve…
